Services We Provide
SCO HOUSING SERVICES will provide a service component to the initial homeless transitional veteran housing program. Females and males will be assisted in resettling into the community. Everyone will have a case manager. The case manager will be responsible for assisting them in creating a LIFE PLAN. Each life plan is based upon what is needed to make a viable and sustainable transition into the community. The Case Manager and the veteran will collaborate closely with the Veterans Administration to obtain an assessment of medical, mental health, physical health and wellness, education/vocation, and employment.
Medical
Residents will be seen by their VA doctors. The case manager will be knowledgeable of the resident’s medical history and make sure all appointments are maintained, and medications are taken as prescribed. Transportation is provided.

Residents experienced a myriad of mental health issues due to service in Viet Nam, Afghanistan. PTSD, depression, anxiety, substance abuse, along with issues due to physical disabilities. Female veterans have those issues in addition to sexual trauma from rape.

Veteran residents will have an opportunity to pair their military job skills with Jobs in the employment sector. They will have the choice of seeking other employment skills through vocational education, attending college and on the job training opportunities. Opportunities exist for training in Diesel mechanics with job placement and culinary, paraprofessionals in Duval County Schools.
For families with school age children, tutoring will be offered to ensure they are not left behind. Parenting classes and family outings will be a necessary part of SCO Housing.
